I'm
an ex Grenadier and the thoughts of being one I hold
very dear,
There is something about it that is always there; the
comradeship is so sincere,
Even when not serving it is just the same,
The feeling of proudness over and over again.
To do public duties you feel so proud and bang your
feet hard in the ground,
The arms swing stiff and in line with the shoulder,
And the hairs on your neck stand out bolder,
And when it time for you to fight, there is not a better
sight
With all other Grenadiers by your side the enemy always
sees our might,
They know we are taught never to give in, this must
put the wind up them.
And now its time to retire, into civvy street we must
go,
I must confess I'm feeling low,
I have an interview for a job, and I'm asked by the
interviewer “what were you in, what mob”?
“I was not in a mob, and I'm feeling quite sincere
when I tell you,
I'm an ex Grenadier”
“An ex Grenadier that says a lot, for the job
you want you have certainly got”.
For these Employers know they have someone they can
trust
And to employ a Grenadier, it has to be a must.
And all the training we went through
Was it not worth it for me and for you?
I would like to say thank you to all my mates
Especially the ones who have left, and have passed through
the Golden gates
For being there when I needed you and helping me see
it all through
So once again I’m being sincere when I say thanks
to you, you Grenadiers |
