Branch Diary

This chart gives a rough outline on what we are currently planning for 2010. For further details on any of the events, please contact the Hon. Secretary. This section is regularly updated - watch for new details of events occurring.

If you are eligible, join the Branch and come along to the events. You can be assured of a very warm welcome, great camaraderie and some excellent days out together. Members who have paid their annual Branch membership fee are eligable to benefit from any subsidy that may be provided to support a particular event.

Presentation of New Colours

The date for the Presentation of New Colours to 1st Bn Grenadier Guards is confirmed as Tuesday 11 May. Venue: Buckingham Palace. Awaiting more details, but the Branch plan on booking a coach if sufficient numbers warrant it. Although all members may bid for places, priority of booking will be given to those members (and their ladies) who have attended six or more meetings in the last twelve months. Please advise the Hon. Secretary (by email) if you are eligable and would like to attend. Places are limited so book ASAP.

Monthly Meeting

Our normal 3rd Sunday meeting date is also Regimental Remembrance Day. Due to the number of other events branch members will be attending in May, the May 2010 branch meeting is therefore cancelled.

Regimental Remembrance Day. Wellington Barracks, The Guards Chapel and Horse Guards Parade, London. Friends and family of branch members are also very welcome to attend.

Church Parade

We have been invited to attend the Church Parade that is being organised by the 1st Foot Guards Re-enactment Society (www.firstfootguards.org). This is still in its early planning stages and more detail will be released once known.

The Major General's Rehearsal

Held on Horse Guards Parade London. Members who would like tickets must register their requirements with the Hon. Secretary (by email) by no later than the last day of February 2010.

Grenadier Day

Occurring during the Grenadiers @ Littlecote week at Littlecote House, Hungerford, Berkshire. The Branch will organise a coach if sufficient numbers warrant it. We may even organise an overnight stay, or two, in that area on the Friday, attend on the Saturday and then travel home on the Saturday night/Sunday morning. Please advise the Hon. Secretary (by email) if you are eligable and would like to attend. Friends and family of branch members are also very welcome to attend.

Hythe Festival Parade

The branch banner and members will march in the Military part of the Hythe Festival Parade that occurs during Hythe Festival Week.

More events are being considered. Details will be in the Branch Notices and on this website, so return often to keep up-to-date with what is happening. Alternately, contact the Hon. Secretary for details.
 
Other events for members interest - 2010
"Welcome Home" Annual Dinner We would like to invite our serving members that served on OP HERRICK 11 to attend, with their ladies, as our guests. The date has yet to be confirmed. Most likely to revert to September, or October due to our intended May date not being attainable.
Summer Garden Party This is a strong likelihood for 2010. The hosts have agreed to look at organising. We are waiting on further details.
